Reliability

There’s no substitute for reliability. A truck only earns money when it is up and running. As such, the prime requirement in the ever tougher construction business is for trucks that can be counted on to operate reliably. With particularly durable drive components, the Mercedes-Benz Trucks range is a shining example of how this is done.

During the construction of our trucks, we always use the strictest quality standards: Real-life requirements. Or in short: Your requirements. For us, this means providing you with trucks that operate without a hitch, even in extreme conditions and in difficult terrain. With leading Mercedes-Benz vehicle technology and components tested under the toughest conditions. This applies to engines, transmissions and drive axles as well as frames, chassis, suspension and cabs. In other words: “Trucks you can trust”.

Efficiency

In addition to its reliable and durable design, efficiency is another core characteristic of the Arocs Distribution, based first and foremost on its particularly low fuel consumption. Low wear and a higher resale value are additional merits contributing to its high overall efficiency. To this end, numerous innovative technical measures were implemented in the course of developing the Arocs. These result in engines with high performance and lower fuel consumption, a powertrain which enables an economical driving style, and an aerodynamic design honed down to the finest details in the interests of fuel efficiency. Fuel-saving drive programs, an optimised rear axle ratio also contribute to the low fuel consumption. The further advanced Mercedes PowerShift 3 automated gearshift combines an economical driving style with smooth gear changing and a high level of driving comfort. The application-matched and aerodynamic cabs of the Arocs also contribute to the high level of efficiency.

Safety

Trucks that are very safe are not just an important development for all road users. They are also more efficient, because they are less often put out of action by accidents and they relieve the driver’s workload. This is why we have been focusing for over 45 years now on developing innovative assistance systems. Mercedes-Benz employs many safety and assistance systems to reduce risks and ease the burden on the driver. Alongside the Electronic Braking System with ABS, ASR, hill holder, Lane Keeping Assist and Attention Assist help the driver to avoid or mitigate accidents. Arocs also provides a passive safety concept developed through rigorous crash tests. The cab has been tested according to ECE R29 and Swedish Test VVFS:2003:29. The target of these tests is a distribution of the deformation, which results in the greatest possible clearance for the occupants.

Furthermore, the driver airbag and driver seatbelt monitor are standard features on all Actros models, enhancing driver safety.

Lane Keeping Assist

Lane Keeping Assist is an image-processing safety system from Mercedes-Benz. A digital camera behind the windscreen detects the vehicle position in relation to the left-hand and right-hand lane markings (guide lines). Lane Keeping Assist therefore helps the driver to stay in lane and warns him in good time if the system detects that the vehicle has crossed the lane marking.

A powerful microcomputer is connected downstream of the digital camera that permanently evaluates the approx. 23,000 captured pixels. If the vehicle touches or moves over the lane markings, a warning signal (rumbling noise) sounds for approx. 3 seconds from the left-hand or right-hand interior speaker. The system is a pure assistance system and does not intervene actively in driving operation. Use of the system is recommended on well-developed roads with clearly visible lane markings at speeds exceeding 60 km/h. The trailer or semitrailer area is not included in monitoring.

Advanced LED Lighting Technology

Mercedes-Benz Arocs now features advanced LED lighting systems designed to deliver superior visibility, safety, and efficiency on every journey. The powerful LED headlamps provide brighter, clearer illumination with a wider and more uniform light distribution, allowing drivers to see further and react sooner, especially during night driving or in poor weather conditions.

Beyond performance, LED lighting is built for durability and efficiency. The long service life of LEDs significantly reduces maintenance requirements and downtime, while lower energy consumption places less strain on the vehicle’s electrical system. This translates into improved operational efficiency and reduced running costs over the lifespan of the truck.

In addition to enhanced functionality, the LED lighting design reinforces the modern, premium look of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, improving road presence and visibility for other road users. The result is a lighting solution that combines safety, efficiency, and design, engineered to perform reliably in demanding commercial environments.

Rain and Light Sensor System

The rain and light sensor system automatically supports the driver by adapting to changing weather and light conditions, allowing full focus on the road. The light sensor continuously monitors ambient light conditions and automatically switches on the dipped beam when required. This function is standard for all Multimedia Cockpit variants (J6B, J6C) and for the Classic Cockpit when combined with MirrorCam (F6T). As a result, the original rain/light sensor code F8X has been replaced by two separate codes and is no longer valid. Country-specific regulations for series control must be observed. Front and rear fog lamps are operated via the Multimedia Cockpits (J6B/J6C), or via the rotary light switch when equipped with the Classic Cockpit.

The rain sensor automatically controls the windscreen wipers in wet conditions. Using an optoelectronic sensor, it detects the intensity of rainfall and adjusts the wiping interval accordingly, from individual wipes to continuous operation. The system is activated via the left-hand stalk and offers two sensitivity levels, ensuring optimal visibility in varying rain conditions.
