PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA – August 18, 2025 – In a bold move that’s turning heads across the transport and logistics industry, Kiara Baijnath, founder and director of Herway Logistics, is redefining what it means to be a woman in trucking. Inspired by childhood memories riding alongside her grandfather, a truck driver, Kiara Baijnath’s journey into logistics was fueled by a passion for adventure and a desire to challenge the status quo.

“I’ve always envisioned myself as a girl boss and a thrill seeker,” says Kiara Baijnath. “When the opportunity to enter the transport business came up, I grabbed it with full strength. It’s something that’s been close to my heart since I was a little girl.”

Her Way Logistics is a dynamic, customer-focused company offering comprehensive local and long-haul transport solutions across diverse industry sectors and corporate organizations.  Established in 2024, they are committed to building a reputation for reliability in transporting goods and parcels both locally and nationally. Through their professional approach, competitive pricing, and extensive network, they deliver exceptional service quality.

Herway Logistics recently added a striking new member to its fleet: another pink Mercedes-Benz Actros 2645. The choice of vehicle was no coincidence. “The Actros aligns perfectly with our company’s goals—fuel efficiency, safety, and reliability,” Kiara Baijnath explains. “And pink?  It’s my favorite color. It represents womanhood and strength. There aren’t many women in this industry, and I wanted to make a bold statement.”

Despite the challenges of being a young woman in a male-dominated field, Kiara Baijnath has proven her resilience. “I’ve been underestimated, but I overcome it by working hard every day and keeping the wheels rolling,” she says.

Her message to other women considering a career in commercial transport is clear and empowering: “Step into this field. It’s exciting and full of opportunity. Yes, there will be challenges, but we’ll overcome them with strength. Be yourself, live your dreams, and know that anything is possible.”

Kiara Baijnath’s story is not just about trucks, it’s about transformation. Through Herway Logistics, she hopes to inspire a new generation of women across South Africa to pursue careers in transport and logistics, proving that the road to success is wide open.

“We are happy to have Kiara as part of the Mercedes-Benz Trucks family and to celebrate this exciting milestone with her as she takes delivery of her sixth Mercedes-Benz Actros. Kiara couldn’t have made a better choice. The Actros is more than just a truck; it’s a benchmark of innovation, reliability, and performance. With its cutting-edge technology and unmatched efficiency. We look forward to seeing Herway Logistics’ success grow with the Mercedes-Benz Actros, and we wish them many safe and prosperous kilometers ahead.” Mark Croxon, CEO of Sandown Motor Holdings.

“I’d like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Kiara Baijnath. At DTSA, we’re inspired by pioneers like Kiara, driving change and opening doors for the next generation of women in logistics. Your determination and vision are truly commendable. We look forward to a strong and growing partnership with Herway Logistics.” Maretha Gerber, President and Group CEO of Daimler Truck Southern Africa.
